My name is Chantal Azachi-Stern and I am originally from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I moved to Israel in 2008.
I am a registered Medical Psychologist in both Israel and the Netherlands and received my training in the Netherlands, the USA and Israel. I have worked in a variety of health care institutions and hospitals, such as New York Medical Center Hospital (Rusk) in the USA, Medical Center Alkmaar in the Netherlands and Rabin Hospital in Israel.
I have extensive experience working with people dealing with issues such as adjustment to immigration, anxiety- and mood disorders, identity, decision making, forming/maintaining romantic relationships, life changes, assertiveness, self confidence, commitment, trust and health.
Additionally, I specialize in Geriatric Psychology, which focuses on issues connected to aging, such as changes in social circles, preparing for/coping with retirement, decrease in physical and/or mental abilities, loss and mourning, loneliness, and existential issues. I also counsel and assist the elderly and their family members when they start experiencing memory loss, cognitive decline, change in personality and/or confusion. This counseling is different from the therapy sessions I offer. For more detailed information about this, you can click here.
For the past eleven years I have been working as a lecturer at the School of Psychology of the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzlia.
I offer therapy in Hebrew, English and Dutch.
